‘Khelo India’ Anthem launched by Rajyavardhan Rathore

Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore made the announcement during the launch of the official anthem and mascot of Khelo India School Games, beginning January 31.  “Now when an athlete wins a medal at Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Olympics, the coach gets incentive.  The anthem aims to focus on brotherhood, equality, and solidarity in sports.

The video features India’s eminent sports personalities such as Sardar Singh, Sunil Chhetri, Devendra Jhajharia, Baichung Bhutia, Pullela Gopichand, Leander Paes, Mary Kom, Akhil Kumar, Sakshi Malik and Saina Nehwal.


12th Shilpgram Mahotsav- 2018

North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), an autonomous organisation set up by the Government of India with an aim to safeguard and promote culture, is organising Shilpgram Mahotsav- 2018, a national level festival of arts on music, dance, theatre, food, craft and children’s activities, marking its 12th foundation day, on its complex at Panjabari from January 17 to 20.

Ministry of Petroleum Launches “Saksham” 2018 Campaign

Saksham (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav)is an annual flagship event of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India.The event focuses on the active involvement of the Oil & Gas PSUs along with other stakeholders like State Governments, for creating focused attention on  fuel conservation through people-centric activities.


Centre sanctions projects over Rs. 10,000 cr in North East for Better Network Connectivity

The Centre has sanctioned projects over 10,000 crore rupees in the North East for better network connectivity.

Two MoUs have been signed to cover the uncovered areas in the North East including Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

Telecommunication Minister Manoj Sinha has been given to upgrade the network connection in border areas.


TCS signed $690 million deal with M&G Prudential of over

 TCS, India’s largest IT services firm, has signed a deal with M&G Prudential, The UK and European savings and investments business of Prudential plc.

Under this contract, TCS will digitally transform M&G Prudential’s business and deliver enhanced service for its UK savings and retirement customers.

‘Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana’ launched by Odisha CM

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Jojana’ (MMKSJ) – an assistance scheme for Artists in the state. Around 50,000 artists will be benefited from this. The government has decided to give Rs 1,200 per month as artist assistance.

The CM confirmed that the government has also changed the eligibility criteria for availing MMKSJ. Under the new scheme, a male artist can avail assistance after attaining the age of 50 years instead of the existing 60 years.

The age criteria for female artists have been reduced to 40 years from 50 years.


HDFC Bank becomes the 1st Indian bank to cross Rs.5 tn market cap

India’s most-valued bank HDFC Bank Ltd crossed Rs5 trillion market capitalization for the first time, making it only the third Indian company to achieve this milestone. The stock touched a fresh record high of Rs1,938.40 on the BSE, to reach market cap of Rs5.02 trillion.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Ltd and Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) are the other two companies which crossed market capitalization of Rs5 trillion.


India test-fired Nuclear-Capable ICBM Agni-V

India test-fired its nuclear-capable Agni-V inter-continental ballistic missile (ICBM), which has a strike range of over 5,000km. It was test fired successfully from Abdul Kalam island off the coast of the eastern state of Odisha.

The ICBM can reach the northern-most parts of China.

FACTFILE – Agni-V

  • It is an intercontinental ballistic missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India.
  • Agni V is part of the Agni series of missiles, one of the missile systems under the original Integrated Guided Missile Development Program.
  • The DRDO chief V.K. Saraswat initially declined to disclose the exact range of Agni-V.Later, however, he described Agni V as a missile with a range of 5,500–5,800 km.
